The Healthy Homes and Communities Division of the Baltimore City Health Department launched a Lead and Healthy Homes Training Institute.
The Institute provides free U.S. EPA-certified Renovation, Repair and Painting training. The RRP trainings instruct contractors, property managers, and others who perform renovation work on how to comply with the EPA’s RRP Rule that took effect April 22, 2010. Under this rule, the EPA requires that firms performing Renovation, Repair, and Painting projects that disturb lead-based paint in pre-1978 homes, child care facilities and schools be certified and that they use certified renovators.
The Institute also provides free 1-2 hour lead safety trainings for groups, renters, and homeowners. Trainings cover how to create and maintain healthy and lead safe homes. The Division recruits community partners, organizations and businesses who would like to host trainings.
